Star Wars Strikes Again
December 14, 2016
Since the birth of the first Star Wars movie in 1977, the franchise has remained a pop-culture phenomenon and continues to attract new audiences’ attention. The Star Wars saga is a storytelling device that has structured many subsequent tales. In each new film, fans are able to reconnect with their childhood as themes and characters from older movies reappear.
Once upon a time we gathered around campfires to tell stories. Today we unite in movie theaters to watch with friends and family. The shared experience of viewing a movie sparks conversations for years to come. The Star Wars universe is one of courageous heroes and surprising villains, creative worlds and equally-matched creatures and robots - here’s looking at you R2-D2. The stories allow viewers to get absorbed in a world not unlike our own in terms of the characters, but yet so different when it comes to the fantastic adventures.
However, the true power in the Star Wars saga is in its lingering presence. Have you ever thought about how children rarely like to watch movies from their parents’ childhoods? With Star Wars, parents and grandparents who began the journey with Luke and Obi-Wan in 1977, can share the characters and the exciting storyline with their children who are interested in the present day movies.
Rogue One is the first of the Star Wars standalone movies. This movie is set before Anakin found the dark force, before Leia met Han Solo, and before Luke went missing. This prequel follows Jyn Erso, a Rebel Alliance recruit, on her mission to steal the design of the Empire's new superweapon, the Death Star. Get your tickets today to see Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, opening December 16, and channel you inner child. Bring your children (if they’re old enough) and enjoy this next installment together.
