Tea Party Ideas
If you’ve been searching for a relaxed party theme for your next girls-only event, you might want to consider hosting a Tea Party. The tradition of Tea Time is a perfect party theme for women of all ages. It’s especially great because it can be tailored to fit almost any event. You can use it for a bridal shower, baby shower, birthday party, Mother’s Day celebration, or Valentine’s Day. Most tea parties are more about socializing with your friends and not about planning a huge party, so it can be a very relaxed party to put together. And to make it even easier for you, we’ve put together a couple of our favorite Tea Party ideas with items that we carry on our website.
Mother’s Day Tea
Celebrate mom and all she’s done for you with a special tea party just for her. Since Mother’s Day is in May, spring flowers are always an appropriate Mother’s Day decoration. Greet your mother with a shimmering metallic Happy Mother's Day fringe banner hanging above the door. We carry a beautiful set of Spring Petals tableware that includes a special set of Mother’s Day napkins. The paper plates, cups, and napkins all feature a pattern of delicate spring flowers against a pink, lavender, sage, or periwinkle backdrop. We even have a coordinating plastic table cover and plastic cutlery. Create a memorable table at your Mother’s Day tea party using a silk pink or lavender poppy centerpiece sitting atop a lovely Fanci-Lace white paper doily. These same doilies can be used as placemats for under your lovely spring plates.
And when it’s time to set your assortment of tea cakes, sandwiches, and scones you can serve them on beautiful plastic Spring Blooms platters. Visit www.foodnetwork.com to find some yummy tea cake and tea sandwich recipes for your Mother’s Day tea party. And if you really want to go all out for your mom on this special day, consider decorating with the Mothers Day decorating kit. It has a fabulous array of flower cutouts, butterfly cutouts, tissue balls, tissue garland, and a Happy Mother’s Day banner. Everything you could want to decorate and brighten up an otherwise bland space.
Garden Tea Party
Take the idea of a traditional tea held indoors in a tea parlor and introduce it to the great outdoors. A garden tea party is just the thing in spring when the grass turns green and the trees are bursting with new color. If you have a flower garden that you’ve been dying for all your friends to see, a garden tea is the perfect way to show it off. Dress up plain patio tables with our selection of stylish paper plates, napkins, cups, and cutlery. They’re not only gorgeous, but perfect for an outdoor tea because you don’t have to worry about carrying all of your china outside.
With this no fuss tableware you’ll just have to use the teapot, cups, and saucers. This will also save you a lot of time when the tea is over and it’s time to clean up. We carry the Orchid Tableware, Tulip Tableware, and the Boutique Tableware. Match the tableware to a Plastic Tablecover. You can also create individual place cards to personalize with your guests’ names. The flower platter will work as the perfect serving tray for your tea cakes and scones and will contrast beautifully with the yellow pansies in your table settings. You could also set up a buffet table using the lavender colored spring tulips fabric table runner as your centerpiece. Then, sprinkle some confetti butterflies in the bright colors of pink, purple, light blue, and topaz to really set off the look of your buffet table.
Bridal Shower Tea
Surprise the bride-to-be with a romantic bridal shower tea. Turn her shower into an actual celebration of the heart with a Valentine or heart themed tea. We carry a huge assortment of red, pink, and white decorations, so we’re sure to have something to help you decorate every aspect of your shower. Decorate the ceiling above your tea with lengths of inexpensive crepe streamers in red, pink, and white. Start them in the center and drape them out to the walls to create a tent-like ceiling. Place a red lace heart cascade in the center of the ceiling as a focal point and to hide the ends of the streamers. This type of ceiling decoration makes a huge impression on your guests and at very little expense. Next, if you’re using cake stands or even 3-tiered traditional tea stands as your table centerpieces, take the red Gleam N Flex heart garland and wrap it around the bases or supports for added color.
If you’ve decided to go buffet-style with your tea party, use the red heart Gleam N Shape centerpiece to invoke the heart theme into the middle of your tea tables. Impress your guests with a sprinkling of metallic heart confetti around the base. Dress up the tables further with white lace plastic tablecovers printed in a fancy lace pattern. Make each place setting memorable with coordinating red, pink, and white paper plates, napkins, cups, and plastic cutlery. Then, complete the place settings with a LOVE photo/balloon holder as a favor for each guest. The holders are made from a polystone material and spell out the word LOVE in big red letters. A little metal ring that sticks out from the top is perfect for holding a place card or a photo of the happy couple.
Princess Tea Party
Don’t forget about the littlest ladies. A princess tea party is the perfect theme idea for a little girl’s birthday party. If your guest of honor is old enough to help, have her create personalized invitations with paper doilies. She can address them to her friends and seal them up with princess stickers. Make sure you encourage all the girls to come dressed up in their very best princess outfit. It will make the party even more fun and get everyone involved in the party theme from the start. But just in case you need some extra dress up goodies to fill in here and there, pick up a few princess party hatsprincess party hats, princess tulle skirts, and princess hair/wristlet accessories. You can stuff them all into an inflatable princess treasure chest and let the girls choose items to wear when they arrive. Decorate the ceiling with pink, white, and lavender crepe streamers and add bunches of princess latex balloons.
As for the table settings, we carry a set of Tea Party plates, cups, and napkins that will match the Tea Party invitations. Use the coordinating plastic tablecover and your little girl’s tea party will be perfect. Set out paper doilies as place settings and decorate them in the same princess stickers used to seal the invitations. When it’s time to serve the royals their tea and cakes, the spring blooms platter makes a perfect server. You can make things like blueberry scones with clotted cream, cucumber sandwiches with the crusts cut off, PB&J sandwiches made into shapes with cookie cutters, and an assortment of mini teacakes. The girls will enjoy all the fun finger foods. And if your little girls like the tea party idea but not drinking tea, serve them up a fruit flavored punch topped with frozen sorbet. Since this is a child’s tea party, make sure you’ve put together a few fun activities to keep everyone entertained. While you’re cleaning up, have the girls play a round of the Kiss the Frog Party Game.
They can take turns being blindfolded and see who can put their pair of cutout pink lips closest to the frog’s lips. It’s just like Pin The Tail on the Donkey, but for princesses. Give the winner a fabric princess sash to wear for the remainder of the party. When all the food and drinks are cleaned up, sit all the girls down to create their own princess wands and tiaras. Our foam wand decorating kit and a princess tiara craft kit is sure to keep the little ones busy. And these kits are especially great, because they double as a party favor to take home. And if you need something to do as you’re waiting for parents to arrive, have everyone gather around to hear a princess story.
